Free

Romans 6:15-23

What a glorious thing to hear from the word of God, we deserve death but can receive eternal life through the FREE gift of God.  Through this gift not only will receive eternal life but we will no longer be slaves but we will be free.  Do you still feel enslaved to sin even though you have placed your faith in Christ?  Repent of your sin, turn to Jesus and be reminded that you are free!  If you have never accepted this free gift, I urge you to read carefully the word of God and recognize Him as Savior and Lord.

Strong and Courageous

April 12, 2010

Joshua 1

Three times in four verses God tells Joshua to be “Strong and Courageous.”  Why is that something that we find so difficult?  We were created to be bold followers of Christ.  This passage is extremely encouraging to me because I can look at the rest of this book of the Bible and see what God did in and through the life of Joshua and realize that at the beginning he had to be reminded over and over to be strong and courageous.  Are you strong and courageous?  What has God been doing in and through your life over the past month?

Guide to the Truth

March 18, 2010

John 16:4-15

Do you realize you have the Spirit of God dwelling in your life?  He is there to guide your every decision, your every move and your every moment of silence.  I think that we view God as a very distant being who cares enough to send His son, but who left us hanging.  However, according to Jesus, we have something that is even more fitting for us because the Holy Spirit guides us to the truth.  He dwells with us constantly.  What a wonderful gift.  How does your life reflect the fact that you have the Holy Spirit with you?

Light in the Darkness

March 17, 2010

Luke 1

What if these words found in verse 79 were your goal in life?  I long to be one who gives light to those in darkness.  I long to be a man who is living his life in such a way that others can more clearly see and hear what it is to be a disciple of Christ.  Are you a light to those in the dark?  What do you need to do differently in your life to be that kind of light?

His Command

March 16, 2010

Numbers 9:23

“At the command of the LORD they camped, and at the command of the LORD they set out.  They kept the charge of the LORD, at the command of the LORD by Moses.”

I hope and pray that I will follow the command of the LORD with clarity and passion.  May we as followers of Christ be ready and willing to do whatever is asked of us.

Our Guide

March 15, 2010

Isaiah 58

Do you realize that God is your guide?  He will guide us, satisfy us and strengthen us.  According to this passage, what have we done to deserve such things from God?  Nothing.  The only thing He asks from us is found in verse nine when Isaiah writes that we shall call and the Lord will answer.  All we must do is cry out to God, ask Him to show us the way and give us the ability to follow the way, and He will do it.  Ask God to do just that.

The Great Provider

March 11, 2010

2 Chronicles 32

“He provided for them on every side.”  God is the provider.  He is not only the protector, the healer and the deliverer, He is the Great Provider.  God delights in providing for His children.  Whenever I think about God’s provisions I revert to preschool with the simple question: For what do you thank God?  I hear that question and realize that I often forget to be thankful for the myriad of things God has provided for me.  All Christians should be thankful for what God has given them.  Beyond being thankful for our resources and wealth, we should be thankful too for our Savior and King, JESUS.  Write down just a few of the many things God has provided for you, thank Him for them and be reminded to do that more often.

The Lord is a Warrior

March 10, 2010

Exodus 15:3

Some translations of this verse say the Lord is a warrior, while others state, “the Lord is a man of war.”  Either way, my God is a powerful, righteous warrior, who fights for those who are His own.  I love the picture of God being both strength and song.  I love that because it shows Him as both powerful and gentle with one sentence.  Have you ever thought of God as a warrior?  Have you thanked God for being both strength and song?

The Blessed Man

March 8, 2010

Psalm 112

Do you fear the Lord?  Do you greatly delight in the commandments of the Lord?  I want to be that blessed man.  I long to be a man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments.   What does it take to truly fear the Lord?  I was discussing the idea of delighting in Christ with some friends just recently and the question was raised, “is your greatest joy found in Christ?”  My hope and prayer is that I delight so much in the commandments of Christ that I will find my joy in Him as well.

Listen and Be Wise

March 2, 2010

Proverbs 23:19

Read that verse out loud again.  Are you hearing God when He speaks?  Is there too much noise around you with the business of God for you to truly listen?  The final portion of this verse says to “direct your heart in the way.”  What is the way?  Jesus said “I am the Way.”  Take time to hear what God is saying to you.
